AISR is a member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), the Northwest European Council of International Schools (NECIS) and the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE). The American International School of Rotterdam is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and The Council of International Schools (CIS). AISR is also an IB World School and as such has met and maintains the standards set out by The International Baccalaureate Organization. AISR has recently introduced the internationally recognised International Primary Curriculum and is now an IPC school.
To be accredited means that we have met the rigorous standards set out by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. We have undergone an extensive self-study which takes about 18 months to complete and is then forwarded on to CIS and NEASC. These two accrediting organizations then use the results of our self-study to conduct a week long on-site inspection of the school, its curriculum, its teaching practices, extra-curricular programs and its business practices as compared to the standards for accreditation.
The cycle of self-study, inspection and accreditation is a ten-year cycle which began again in 2008. Through a continuous improvement model, AISR is constantly working to improve all of its programs so as to meet the ever evolving standards of the best practices in education. In June 2010, after much hard work and focus from all our staff, AISR received once again 'Accredited' status. If you would like to learn more about the Accreditation process at AISR, please feel free to contact me, Alison Lipp, Curriculum Coordinator Ms Alison Lipp.
