If you drive to Rotterdam, please provide us with your hotel information so we can have your travel cards waiting for you upon your arrival.
If you choose to fly into Rotterdam’s Airport please provide us with your flight information, we will arrange for transportation to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.
Another major airport close to Rotterdam is Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. If you choose to fly into Schiphol Airport you will have two options to get to Rotterdam. Option 1
Take a train to Rotterdam Central Train Station from Schiphol. There is a train station connected to Schiphol Airport that makes this an easy and convenient option. Tickets cost about €20 per person. If you choose this option we will have an AISR representative meet you at EACH station once we know your arrival information. The train ride is approximately 45 minutes in length.
Option 2
A shuttle can be arranged to pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel. Each shuttle can transport 8 people. The cost for each shuttle is approximately €75.
Discussion Topic To ensure sustainable supplies of water, water sources should not be considered public domain; water supplies should be privatized.
Students should research ideas about the privatization of water and consider to what degree, if at all, they agree with the above statement. This statement will be used to start a discussion between small groups of students. It is acceptable for students to bring information with them to aid in the discussion.
Forum Presentations All schools are asked to complete one of the following projects for presentation at the GIN Fall Forum. Please inform us of the option you plan to choose so that we can place your presentation on the agenda at the appropriate time.
Option 1 Create a 5-7 minute video that creates awareness about a global issue related to water. The issue and portrayal of the issue is up to your discretion. You can create a documentary, a dramatization or any other format you wish to use to help the audience learn about your issue. It is hoped that your video will demonstrate the research and opinions your group has developed about your issue. Your video will be presented at the conference and a few minutes for follow up questions will be-allowed.
Option 2 Create a 5-7 minute video that updates and informs the audience about the work your school has done or is trying to do to meet a current action plan. This video will be a chance for your school or group to provide other schools with ideas on how they can work to impact the issues described in the book High Noon. You can use the format that works best for your school to demonstrate your hopes and accomplishments. Your video will be presented at the conference and a few minutes for follow-up questions will be allowed.
Option 3 Create a 5-7 minute PowerPoint presentation that demonstrates the research and problem solving your school or group has done concerning an issue related to water. You will give your presentation to the conference attendees on Friday. After your presentation, a few minutes will be provided for follow-up questions.
