Admissions policyAs AISR is a university-prep school that admits students
beginning at age 3, we wish to attract and enroll qualified students whose
ultimate goal is to attend university. The language of instruction is English and students can ultimately earn
a US High School (AISR) diploma as well as having the option of earning the IB
(International Baccalaureate) diploma. A child applying for the Pre-Kindergarten One Program must
be three years old prior to October 20th. Similarly, a child applying for the Pre-Kindergarten Two program must be four years old prior to October 20th. A child must be five years old before October 20th to enter Kindergarten;
and six years old before October 20th to enter Grade 1. Prospective students will be considered on a first come -
first served basis. Prior to being considered for admission to the school, an
application form for the prospective student must be submitted along with a
request for an interview. Applicants to the school are selected on the basis of
previous academic records, standardized test scores, level of English ability
(beginning at grade 5) and thepersonal, academic
interview. (See admissions requirements for more detail). The Admissions
Committee makes the final decision regarding entrance to the AISR. Prospective students who apply and are accepted to AISR from
schools or educational systems who have a different school calendar (like those
commonly found in schools in Korea, Japan or Australia) will be placed in the
grade that they are currently attending, if they are admitted at the start of
the new school year. If they are accepted in January, they will be placed in
the grade that they have just completed in their previous school. Space limitations may require that the enrollment at any
particular grade level be closed. If that is the case, a waiting list will be
established. AISR is able to accept a limited number of students with
mild learning needs, and will consider those students only if official
documentation(ie IEPs,
psychological testing reports, etc) is submitted prior to the date of the
admissions interview. AISR does not provide self-contained special ed. classrooms
at any level, nor do we have facilities for children with physical or emotional
handicaps. We require students who are admitted to AISR to be in
residence with at least one parent or a legally appointed guardian. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race,
creed, or ethnic origin in its admissions policies or administration of its
educational programs. We welcome diversity.
