U12 Girls (+ 2 boys)- report from Mr. Gutierrez season was filled with lots of learning and fun. Each player came away with a better understanding of the sport of basketball, its rules and the offensive and defensive skills of their position(s). The team ended the season with a 7th place finish in the NECIS tournament. They displayed great resilience and sportsmanship every time they stepped foot on the court, win or lose. The squad was composed of a great group of student-athletes. They will always be remembered for their great effort, hard work and smiles.

Meet the TeamU12 Girls Basketball Team (Marisa, Nick, Anastasia, Charlotte, Kokoa, Arushi, Skyler, Coach Gutierrez Missing: Gabs, Jessica, Ji-Eun). The 2011-2012 Basketball season is in full swing and the Sharks are ready to play ball. This season, I, Josué Gutiérrez will have the honors to coach the squad for a 2nd year in a row! This year’s Sharks basketball team welcomes back two veterans from last year’s squad, 6th grade *Jessica (Co-captain/Forward) and *Ji-Eun (Center/Forward).
Joining them as an upper classmen, we have newcomer *Gabs that will help with ball guard duties. The team also is well represented by the 5th grade class, with Charlotte (Co-captain/Forward), Anastasia (Center/Forward), Marissa (Shooting Guard/Forward). The team was lucky to have Kokoa (Point Guard) join us for the first part of the season. Sadly, Kokoa will be taking her ball handling skills to Japan at the start of 2012. To top it off, the squad welcomes three 4th graders in Arushi (Forward) and boys Nick (Guard/Forward) and Skylar (Point Guard), who will help the team out this year. The Sharks are getting the season started on the right note, working on the necessary drills and skills for a successful 2011-2012 season of basketball.
