PTSA Annual Dinner - Fundraiser*

What a night!  On Saturday night the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) hosted the annual dinner dance.  We would like to extend a warm thank you to all of you who supported this event.  It was a very successful evening and, although we do not have the exact count as of yet, we feel confident to tell you that we have raised a total of approximately 9000 euro!!!  This is the most money ever raised during a dinner dance!
Once again, we would like to give a big thank you to all of the volunteers who made the event possible.  Acquiring the donations, writing emails and articles, wrapping baskets, making the program book...there is a lot of hard work and dedication involved.  We are very fortunate to have a great group of parents and staff at our school that makes all of this possible.  It has been an interesting few months, but the work has been well worth the wonderful reward of raising all of this money for the students of AISR.

PTSA would also like to thank the AISR dinner dance DJ's, Ruud and his assistants Drew and Alexander.  Thank you Seref for providing your emcee service, you guided us smoothly through the evening.  We also want to say thank you to Melissa Beebe, who made sure the program book looked its best.  Graham and Justin, thank you for being our first ever live auctioneers.  It was a real treat to see you play the role of auctioneers and you managed to raise a lot of money for the school.
Thank you to all of the people who, even though they could not attend the dinner dance, still purchased raffle tickets in support of the school.  The final, but very important, thank you is to all of you who attended the dinner dance.  Your generosity as both attendee and bidder, your enthusiasm, and your spirit are what made the evening a huge success.  Special congratulations to those of you who won the class auction baskets, staff auction items, and the grand raffle prizes.

*Fundraising Activities - 2008/2009

So, where does your money go?

Last year the hard work accomplished by PTSA’s committee members and parent volunteers raised over €7500, all of which was spent on the students of AISR through scholarships, fulfillment of teacher wishes, and subsidizing of school programs.  The money was earned during events such as the dinner dance, winter performance bake sale, and spring fair.  By far, PTSA’s biggest fundraiser of the year is the annual dinner dance.  Because of the hard work and dedication of our AISR community during the 2008-2009 school year, the PTSA was able to allocate money for the following:

A microwave oven, located in the cafeteria
AISR flags/tablecloth
Wheels for library carts
Wheeled containers for Kindergarten use
A Tom-Tom GPS system for school travel
10 bicycle helmets
10 stop watches
2 portable beamers
€500 for a library enrichment fund
3 scholarships totaling €1250
Young Authors book funding
Halloween
Sinterklaas event
Thanksgiving feast
Fun Run support
Prom funding

The 2009-2010 PTSA committee would love to surpass last year’s fundraising accomplishment so that we can fulfill even more teacher wishes at the end of this school year.  PTSA strives to raise as much money as possible in order to benefit the most important members of our school - the students.

Parents Always Welcome

The Parents Association is always looking for parents to join us at our meetings and events.  We are a very informal and welcoming organization, working to raise money that directly benefits the students of our school.  Whether you are family new to the school or have been here and are looking to get involved, you are warmly welcome.  We are all from different countries so please don’t be shy about language skills or cultural differences, they are a great part of what makes this school so unique.

Please join us at a meeting, or get in touch with any of the active committee members.  We would love to hear from you.
